Sarah Brown is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She has dedicated her career to community-centered work that uplifts and supports Native people. With a Bachelor’s in Information Studies and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Oklahoma, she spent six years as a public librarian where she focused on building community connections, increasing representation, and creating access to essential resources.

Her transition into the nonprofit sector brought her to The Last Mile as Classroom Operations Manager and later to the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) as Individual Giving Manager. In both roles, Sarah drew on her passion for resource-building and community collaboration to support Native-led programs and initiatives. Over the past decade, she has consistently worked with and served Native communities, driven by a commitment to fostering long-term, sustainable impact.

Outside of her professional work, Sarah serves on the board of Matriarch, a Native woman- and Two-Spirit led organization based in Oklahoma. Matriarch supports Indigenous women, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary relatives through culturally grounded classes, community building, and advocacy. Sarah credits the organization with helping shape her worldview and providing her with a network of friends, mentors, and chosen family.

She lives in Oklahoma with her husband—her high school sweetheart—and their two teenagers. In her free time, Sarah embraces her nerdy side through comics, books, and all things Dungeons and Dragons.
